Description:
Last spring, Nikki Beckett vanished, sucked into an underworld known as the Everneath, where immortals Feed on the emotions of despairing humans. Now she's returned- to her old life, her family, her friends- before being banished back to the underworld... this time forever.
She has six months before the Everneath comes to claim her, six months for good-byes she can't find the words for, six months to find redemption, if it exists.
Nikki longs to spend these months reconnecting with her boyfriend, Jack, the one person she loves more than anything. But there's a problem: Cole, the smoldering immortal who first enticed her to the Everneath, has followed Nikki to the mortal world. And he'll do whatever it takes to bring her back- this time as his queen.
As Nikki's time grows short and her relationships begin slipping from her grasp, she's forced to make the hardest decision of her life: find a way to cheat fate and remain on the Surface with Jack or return to the Everneath and become Cole's..
Nikki is in the Everneath, she is just awakening from a feed that has lasted 100 years. The entire time someone has been with her... Cole, but during the feed she kept seeing the face of a boy, a boy with brown eyes, it is his face that has gotten her through the terrible feed. Once Nikki awakens, Cole realizes that Nikki is special, she has survived the feed, still young and sane. This has only happened once before ....a very long time ago. Cole immediately knows that he has to make Nikki his, so that he and Nikki can rule hell together.
When given the option of staying with Cole or going back home for 6 months... the decision isn't hard for her. She has to return home and find the boy with brown eyes, she knows she knows him but can't remember his name. Why has she seen him over and over again in her dreams for over 100 years? Nikki's decision outrages Cole and he follows her back from the Everneath to convince her that she needs to go back with him and be immortal or the tunnels will take her, using her, and draining her energy until she just ceases to exist.
It doesn't take Nikki long once she is home to figure out who the boy with brown eyes is, it's Jack! Her boyfriend from before the feed. He has kept her hanging on to her humanity for a hundred years. Nikki has only 6 months to make things right, only 6 months to say goodbye, or 6 months to find redemption so that she can stay with Jack. Nikki will get no more than 6 months, her clock is ticking! She has a shade inside of her to guarantee that her debt will be paid on time. All the while Cole is trying to tear Jack and Nikki apart, for one thing their love can destroy everything that Cole is working for...and he isn't going to give up without a fight... but either are Nikki and Jack.
Will Nikki find out how to beat the tunnels which are coming for her? Or will she have to leave jack and be dragged back to hell by Cole?
This book has left me breathless. I didn't expect a whole lot going into it, but it had a description worth dying for. I mean come on ... Nikki comes back from hell for Jack! How romantic is that? But nothing is easy for this young love. Cole is an Everling, something that needs to feed from humans to stay alive, and he wants Nikki by his side while he rules the Everneath, and he will stop at nothing to claim what he believes belongs to him.
Ashton writes about something we all long to have, a love that will overcome anything, even a world that is against them. It's tender, touching, and romantic. It reminded me of a high school boyfriend that I had, when they flash back to the day they first met, all the butterflies you feel, with that giddy feeling that just makes you feel that everything is right with the world. Jack is willing to do anything for Nikki... and by anything I mean anything! He will face hell with her to try and save her from something that seems like it's impossible to defeat.
I would read this book over and over again. It is bound to become a classic amongst the young adult/ paranormal world. Once you open the book and begin reading, it's so hard to put down. It has everything anyone is looking for! Romance, deaf defying odds, adventure, action... and what did it for me.... I had goose bumps. Never before has a book given me goose bumps before, and left me longing for more like this book did. I can't wait for the sequel.A deliciously devious book, with a shocking ending left me on the edge of my seat until the very last sentence. I am in love with Everneath!
This book deserves way more stars than I have a scale for!
Giveaway?
Okay I know that many of you are aching to get your hands of a copy of the Everneath. But the issue I am having is that I have been contacting winners, and not hearing anything back from anyone. So here is my solution. To make sure that those of you entering are paying attention to the blog as well, I will NOT post a giveaway for this delicious ARC until I have at least 50 comments on this post. At that time I would be more than happy to offer up my ARC of Everneath by Brodi Ashton to one lucky winner! So Comment Away...
Can I comment 50 times LOL I really want this book
