An edgy book for teens that spans the gap between YA and adult fiction. Life after high school is tough enough without having to go 15 rounds with your inner demon. Val Shapiro is just your ordinary, part-demon, teenaged vampire hunter with a Texas drawl. And a pet hellhound named Fang. Soon enough she finds herself deep in the underbelly of the city, discovering the secrets of the Demon Underground and fighting to save those she loves. Whether they love her back or not.

Val Shaprio has a loving family, an awesome little sister, and she is a succubus to boot. She hunts vampires to ease the hunger that her demon feels. But on her birthday her world is turned upside down when her little sister Jen follows her on a vampire hunt, (On which she meets a hunky Special Crimes Unit agent.) and when Val doesn't get her home before her parents found out, her parents kick her out of the house and forbid her to ever see her sister again. Even worse her mother is acting like Val isn't even her daughter anymore.

Val goes on a vampire hunt to ease her pain of being disowned and while on her hunt she meets a dog named Fang, a Hellhound who can smell vampires, and has taken a liking to Val. With money running out and no other option she contacts Dan (Hunky SCU guy) in hopes that he can get her a job seeing what he does isn't that different from what she does.... only he gets paid for it.

So now Val has a job.... but what about a place to live? She can't stay in the hotel forever with Fang and her money is running out. She asks Dan to keep an ear out for someone looking for a roommate and he has the perfect solution. His sister Gwen lives in a townhouse and could use a roommate and she loves dogs! Everything seems to be falling into place for Val she has a job and a home that she loves and new friends, but one thing threatens to take everything from her.... maybe even her life.

A vampire in town named Alejandro is starting a new vampire movement. He has open blood banks in which allow donors to come in and donate to vampires so that vampires dont risk in killing their victims anymore. But Val and Dan are on alert because something doesn't seem to be adding up. That's when they get a tip from Micha...Val's long lost cousin letting them know that Val's sister Jen is somehow involved with the vampire movement. Upon contacting Jen she realizes that her sister is being mind controlled by a vampire but can't figure out who. Will Val and Dan save Jen before its too late?

I loved this book! It has a nice pace to it. I was quickly sucked into Val's world of evil and maybe nice vampires. All while she is fighting her inner demon Lola and her attraction to her partner Dan. This is a young adult book and in no way has swearing or strong sexual content. I would suggest it to the 14 and Up crowd due to a hot and heavy make out scene, and all the vampire violence.

Bite Me is a delicious take on paranormal young adult books. It has everything you are looking for. A kick ass heroine ... and it so happens to be a chick which rocks my ever lovin socks. A little romance with Dan, and an adorable puppy who also happens to be a bad ass hellhound. I loved it!
