Melissa has waited her whole life to move out and start her own. This is her first summer after graduating and now she has her own place and a job. Everything she wanted is starting to happen.

Until the accident.

After almost drowning, the most gorgeous guy she has ever seen not only saves her life, but forever changes it. What do you do when you find out that life as you have always known it isn’t real, and the man you love is a vampire, out to save you from something worse?

Melissa lives in a small town, she has just finished high school, and is now living on her own. Everything seems perfect. Then she has a near death experience one night, while out swimming with friends. Melissa spots a beautiful stranger watching her from the woods, right as she is about to jump off a cliff into the water. Once Melissa jumps and is submerged into the water she can't seem to find her way to the surface... soon she is fighting for her life.
Then just as Melissa can no longer hold her breath the mysterious stranger jumps in to save her.

Micheal has never met anyone like Melissa before and finds himself wanting to be the person that she relies on. Before long there is a nature spirit that begins killing people in Melissa's town and has set its sights on Melissa. Who better to protect her than her sexy new vampire boyfriend?

I had very mixed feelings on Shades of Twilight at one moment I couldn't get enough and then a moment later I wanted to put it down. Don't get me wrong this has all the potential to be a 5 star book! It had everything that I look for in a paranormal romance, a sexy as hell lead man, action and a bit of forbidden romance! I also loved the story plot. I could imagine everything that was happening.. How everything and everyone looked... I even developed a crush on Micheal... I mean who wouldn't? I just could stand how whinny Melissa was! It seemed as though every little thing that went wrong, she would cry. There is a lot that happened in this book and at every turn Melissa was crying... it annoyed the crap out of me! With that being said if it wasn't for Melissa's annoying-ness I would have given this book 5 flowers... but I just couldn't bring myself to justify it.
